Here we go, then. After toying with the idea for some time, I’ve finally decided to leap into the world of Substack.
If you’ve stumbled upon this entirely by chance and you don’t know me, I’m David Lynch, a journalist with over a decade’s experience reporting on Liverpool FC who has worked for the club itself, the Evening Standard and the Sunday Mirror (to name a few) along the way.
Thanks to my years on the Merseyside patch, I’ve built up a strong contact book that helps me break news and provide insights into the Reds that you won’t find elsewhere. I’m also a regular at Anfield and the AXA Training Centre, meaning I’m in the fortunate position of being able to keep fans abreast of every match, press conference, and development at the club they love.
Since a pandemic-related redundancy forced me to become a freelancer back in 2020, I’ve been extremely fortunate to be able to keep doing all of the above for various publications across different platforms. However, I’ve long felt that it would be best to have a single home for the majority of my news and features, one that isn’t bound to unpredictable advertising revenues in an increasingly uncertain financial climate.
So that’s why I’m here and hoping that the Liverpool fans who have enjoyed my work down the years - and some new faces, too - are open to supporting my journalism in a slightly different way.
I’m aiming to keep the news and insights coming, including coverage from press conferences and matches, interviews, and those all-important transfer updates. Hopefully I can reward your support by bringing you the best possible coverage of Liverpool FC - though I can’t guarantee they’ll win anything, sorry!
Thanks,
David
