How more days off are fuelling Liverpool's title charge
Arne Slot has been more liberal than his predecessor in allowing breaks from training this season and, thus far, this approach is working wonders.
Throughout Jurgen Klopp’s reign as manager, it would have been hard to imagine Liverpool applying a less-is-more policy to any single aspect of their preparations.
As Pep Lijnders once famously put it, the club’s entire ethos at that time could be summed up by the phrase “intensity is our identity”.
And this attitude underpinned the approach to not only matches, but also training, recovery, analysis and everything else.
The results of these principles cannot be disputed given that the Reds won every trophy available under Klopp.
Yet it is interesting to note that his successor, Arne Slot, is enjoying a fine start to life at Anfield after taking a slightly different path regarding one particular facet of the job.
