Liverpool fans should relish Alisson heroics amid uncertain future
The Brazilian was the key man as Liverpool secured an unlikely Champions League win over Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday.
Alisson Becker made his only mistake of the night when, in a post-match interview following Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday, he suggested he had put in his best performance of the season before rightly correcting that to ‘of my life’.
That was no exaggeration, either, with the Brazilian rightly hailed as the sole reason Arne Slot’s side are somehow taking an aggregate lead back to Anfield.
By now you will have seen the numbers: nine saves made across 90 minutes, a remarkable 2.26 xGOT prevented.
Alisson even managed to shine amid a much-improved second-half defensive performance from Liverpool, keeping out incredible strikes from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Desire Doue with his fingertips.
And that he combined that with a pass map that many holding midfielders would be proud of meant it was no surprise to hear Slot hailing him as the best in the world at full-time.
